As interior trends are constantly changing, your kitchen may look outdated after a few years. Buying a new kitchen if it is still in good condition would be a shame. In that case you can choose to renovate or restyle the kitchen. With a few clever tricks you can make the centre of your house completely contemporary again.
ADD NEW ACCESSORIES
Adding or renewing kitchen accessories can do wonders! A towel holder, knife block, fixed cutting board and spoon holders can be purchased cheaply. Decorative and functional also go perfectly together. Think of striking peppermills or fresh herbs that you can hang on the wall such as the Karoo planter.
RESTYLING THE SPLASH WALL
When entering the kitchen, the mudguard is one of the first things that catches the eye. Old kitchen tiles quickly give an outdated impression and should be replaced by a modern, seamless surface. Stainless steel and glass, for example, are an excellent choice that is much more hygienic than tiles. After renovation, your kitchen will also look much larger as these materials reflect much more.
If you want to renovate the splash wall cheaply, you can paint the tiles with special paint or apply a water-repellent board material. To give it a playful touch, you can also use board paint or magnetic paint.
RESTYLING KITCHEN CABINETS
Painting the kitchen cabinets is a cheap solution that gives your kitchen a new look. If you don’t like the amount of work, you can also cover the doors with foil. Sometimes it can be enough to just change the handles.
ADD NEW LIGHTING
By adding lighting under the kitchen cabinets you create a lot of extra atmosphere and you will also have a more pleasant work surface to work on. You can buy special lighting but also LED strips are perfectly possible. These take up less space and are easier to install with their double-sided tape. LED strips do feel less cosy than halogen lamps.
BRING ATMOSPHERE WITH SHELVES
Additional attributes in the same material as the kitchen make the room look a lot more luxurious. Think of matching shelves or a dining table that matches your kitchen worktop. Your kitchen will look a lot bigger and you also have more room to bring atmosphere with decoration and plants.
